Consulting for individuals

Personal legal consulting

A single point of contact for the legal questions that sit around a life in South Africa — with advice and drafting first, and a clear referral if a matter must go to court.

How we help

Contracts and civil matters

Advice on contract claims, neighbour disputes and other civil questions between individuals. We assess prescription and whether a letter of demand is the right first step, and draft it.

Family law consulting

Advice on separation and divorce settlement terms, maintenance, parenting arrangements, and care and contact. Antenuptial contracts are prepared with a notary. For foreign spouses, we keep the family matter aligned with the visa or permanent residence file so that one process does not undo the other.

Wills, estates and succession

Wills, living wills and advice to executors. Foreign assets and dual nationality need careful wording; we work with the estate’s tax adviser.

Employment questions

Advice on unfair dismissal, unfair labour practice and discrimination, the CCMA referral process, and review of a settlement or restraint of trade before you sign.

Consumer and contract advice

National Credit Act and Consumer Protection Act complaints, gym and school contracts, and private sale agreements. A short written opinion is often enough.

Property and lease advice

Residential lease review, deposit disputes and the route to the Rental Housing Tribunal. Transfers are handled by a conveyancer; we remain available for your questions throughout.

Court matters

We tell you at the outset if a matter is likely to need court proceedings.
